'Exorcist: The Beginning' tops box office

HOLLYWOOD, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- In its debut week, "Exorcist: The Beginning," distributed by Warner Bros., grossed $18 million and topped the U.S. box office, estimated boxofficemojo.com.

Paramount's "Without a Paddle" grossed $13.7 million in its premier week.

"The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, distributed by Buena Vista, added $13 million to its box office of $61 million.

Fox's "Alien vs. Predator" added $12.5 million to its box office of $63 million.

"Open Water" distributed by Lion's Gate, added $11.7 million to its box office of $15 million.

"Collateral," distributed by DreamWorks, added $10.5 million to its box office of $70 million.

Universal's "The Bourne Supremacy" added $6.6 million to its box office of $150 million.

Paramount's "The Manchurian Candidate" added $4 million to its box office of $55 million.

"The Village," distributed by Buena Vista," added $3.6 million to its box office of $107 million.

Fox Searchlight's "Garden State" added $3 million to its box office of $6.7 million.
