LONDON, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- British radio listeners named music from "The Blues Brothers," with songs by Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and James Brown, as the best film soundtrack.
The soundtrack from the 1980s film starring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd was chosen by listeners on BBC 6 Music's drive time show, hosted by Andrew Collins, BBC reported Friday.
"The Blues Brothers" received 19 percent of the vote, 1 percent more than the second place winner, the soundtrack to Quentin Tarantino's 1994 film, "Pulp Fiction," with songs by Dusty Springfield, Urge Overkill and Al Green.
"'The Blues Brothers' crosses age barriers, with its timeless mix of blues and soul. It's a 'Sound Of Music' for hipsters, a film that lives and breathes music," Collins said.
Soundtracks for British film "Trainspotting," Disco classic "Saturday Night Fever" and Patrick Swayze's "Dirty Dancing," came in third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
