LONDON, July 21 (UPI) -- British bookies are paying bettors who took the odds a couple on the reality TV series "Big Brother" would become the first to have sex on live TV.
A spokeswoman for the British version of "Big Brother" said she could not confirm the couple had sex on this week's episode, but bookies are certain enough they are paying winnings, Britain's Guardian reported Wednesday.
"Punters have been ringing in and asking for their money. From what we've seen we're convinced it happened, so we are paying out," said Warren Lush, a spokesman for Ladbrokes.
Contestants Michelle and Stuart reportedly snuck beneath a table for more than an hour early Tuesday morning in an incident that Michelle said "boosted" her "immune system."
Michelle gave no details, telling fellow contestant Shell she promised Stuart not to talk about it.
The couple escaped being booted off the show this week, giving them another week together in the Big Brother House.
