Linda Ronstadt shown Aladdin door

LAS VEGAS, July 19 (UPI) -- Aladdin hotel management ordered security guards to escort singer Linda Ronstadt from the Las Vegas hotel after she expressed political views.

The Las Vegas Sun reported Aladdin Hotel President Bill Timmins was in the audience Saturday during the Ronstadt show in the Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts when she expressed support for filmmaker Michael Moore and dedicated the Eagles hit "Desperado" to him.

The newspaper said she received both cheers and boos, with some audience members asking for ticket refunds. Others defaced and threw drinks at posters of Rondstat's face.

Timmins ordered her from the hotel and said she was no longer welcome at the Aladdin for future performances.

"We hired Ms. Ronstadt as an entertainer, not as a political activist. She went up in front of the stage and just let it out. This was not the correct forum for that." Timmins told Las Vegas Sun's gossip columnist Timothy McDarrah.

"A situation like that can easily turn ugly and I didn't want anything more to come out of it. There were a lot of angry people there after she started talking."
