Health care next for 'Fahrenheit's' Moore

NEW YORK, June 29 (UPI) -- U.S. filmmaker Michael Moore, whose "Fahrenheit 9/11" attacks President Bush, is taking on the health care industry.

The director/author will highlight glitches in the U.S. healthcare system in his next film, Maine's Common Dreams news service reported Tuesday.

Moore said the intrusion of a hand-held camera will be more effective than conventional protests against insurance groups and chain hospitals that abuse poorer patients, he said.

Moore said he got the idea for his new project when making "The Awful Truth," a TV show that aired in Britain.

"We had this guy who was going to die because his HMO (insurers) wouldn't pay for his transplant so we went with him and conducted a funeral rehearsal," Moore said. "The HMO was ashamed and paid for the transplant and he lives to this day."
