SANTA MONICA, Calif., June 22 (UPI) -- Britney Spears was so hysterical after her mom ran over a photographer in California that paramedics tended to the pop diva before the injured man.

Photographer Calem Reavley was writhing in pain on the ground after being hit by Lynne Spears' vehicle, while Santa Monica, Calif., paramedics tried to calm the pop singer who was sobbing and screaming following the weekend accident, World Entertainment News Network reported Tuesday.

The accident occurred, according to an onlooker, when Spears and her mom left a pet shop where the singer bought two puppies. When photographers surrounded the vehicle, Lynne Spears reportedly drove through the crowd at high speed, striking Reavley. Police were called to the scene and mother and daughter reportedly will be required to give statements.

Reavley is resting at home after doctors determined he had suffered swelling but no broken bones, WENN said.

Lollapalooza music festival canceled

NEW YORK, June 22 (UPI) -- U.S. music festival Lollapalooza has been canceled because of poor ticket sales just three weeks before the 31-date, 16-city tour was set to begin.

Promoters and organizers decided to cancel the 13-year-old festival Monday after realizing they could lose millions of dollars because advance ticket sales were down in every market except New York, MTV.com reported Tuesday.

This year's lineup was set to include Morrissey, Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, the Flaming Lips and the String Cheese Incident.

Marc Geiger, with William Morris Agency and a Lollapalooza co-founder, said Lollapalooza's fate is industry-wide.

"Everyone from the Dead to Dave Matthews to Norah Jones is suffering. There's not one explanation for this," Geiger said, citing high ticket prices and high gas prices as possible explanations. "... Just like the record industry is suffering, the concert business is not exempt."

Lollapalooza tickets, however, were moderately priced between $15 and $25, Geiger said.

Fans who purchased tickets will be given refunds.
