Courtney Love posts bail in felony charge

LOS ANGELES, June 11 (UPI) -- Los Angeles police released rocker Courtney Love Friday after she surrendered on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon and posted $55,000 bail.

If convicted, Love faces up to four years in prison, MTV.com reported. She's due to be arraigned on the felony assault charge on July 9.

Love was booked and released after posting the bond.

A warrant was issued for Love's arrest earlier this month after police received a complaint from Kristin King, a friend of Love's former manager and boyfriend, James Barber.

King said Love attacked her with a bottle and a metal flashlight in late April.

It was reportedly King's first meeting with Love, who said King was seeking advice from Love about her trio, Black Heat 7, for which she's the singer-guitarist. She was staying at Barber's when the alleged incident occurred.

Love's lawyer, Michael Rosenstein, said Love plans to plead innocent.
