Photography show celebrates Anne Frank

NEW YORK, May 25 (UPI) -- An exhibition of 77 photographs celebrating the 75th anniversary of the birth of Anne Frank is on view at the Kraushaar Galleries in Manahttan through July 29.

The show was organized by the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, where during World War II, the young Jewish girl recorded her experience of being hidden away in an attic to escape Nazi persecution, and by the Anne Frank Center USA, a New York organization.

Titled "Anne Frank: A Private Photo Album," it includes eight original photographs, 69 copies, a facsimile of Frank's diary, and reproductions of family photograph albums assembled by Otto Frank, Anne's father, and his wife Edith.

The photos include Frank as an infant in the arms of her big sister, Margot, and Anne and Margot in cribs, playing on the beach, and with their parents prior to the war. The hiding place of the Franks was discovered by the Nazis in 1944, and all but Otto died in concentration camps.

The show will travel to the Holocaust Museum in Houston, Texas, where it will be on display Aug. 5 through Dec. 31.
