Fox News plans to list war accomplishments

NEW YORK, May 6 (UPI) -- Fox News has said it will counter last Friday's "Nightline" roll call of U.S. troops who have died in Iraq with a show detailing war accomplishments.

Fox News will air "Fox News Sunday" this Sunday with host Chris Wallace listing what U.S. troops have accomplished while in Iraq, such as ousting Saddam Hussein and rebuilding the infrastructure, New York Daily News reported Thursday.

"We are in no way saying the U.S. mission in Iraq is an unalloyed success, or that there aren't serious questions, which we have raised ourselves," Wallace said. "But to just list the names of fallen soldiers without context is like listing the names of those who died on D-Day without talking about what the invasion accomplished."

Critics accused ABC of a ratings stunt, which host Ted Koppel denied, saying in a letter last Friday to the Washington Post that if ABC wanted to "artificially boost" its ratings, it would have turned to names like Kobe Bryant or Michael Jackson.

The controversial episode garnered 29 percent more viewers than the previous week, the Daily News said.
