DVD software producer sued in NY

NEW YORK, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- The DVD Copy Control Association is suing a producer of DVD-copying software for patent violation in New York.

Video Business reports the DVD-CCA brought the case against 321 Studios, charging the maker of the DVD X Copy line of software products with violating patents related to the encryption code used on DVDs.

The suit was filed in federal court in New York, the same jurisdiction where the studios and Macrovision Inc. have also sued 321.

Officials from 321 Studios were not immediately available for comment on the latest legal action against the company, which was filed last week.
