HOLLYWOOD, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- America's Cartoon Network has signed a deal to develop video games based on its youth-oriented programs, Daily Variety reported Wednesday.
According to the trade paper, the network has signed an exclusive first-look deal with Take-Two Interactive to develop games based on its popular animated children's shows.
Take-Two is the publisher of the fast-selling, yet controversial "Grand Theft Auto" video games.
This deal will give Take-Two the opportunity to reach a younger audience, while allowing the network to get more involved in game development.
Exempt from the Cartoon Network deal would be any games based on its late-night "Adult Swim" line-up.
The first game to come out of the deal is an adaptation of network's No. 1 show, "Codename: Kids Next Door." It will be available for Game Boy Advance by Christmas and for consoles in 2005.
