Courtney Love explains court no-show

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Courtney Love didn't make her Beverly Hills court date on drug possession charges because she didn't have a bodyguard, she told a radio show Thursday.

The presiding judge Wednesday issued a bench warrant for the singer's arrest, but then held it after Love's lawyer said her absence involved "security concerns," E! Online reported.

The court date was rescheduled for Feb. 17 with Love's attendance mandatory.

Love, 39, faces two felony counts of illegally possessing prescription painkillers.

Love called Howard Stern's nationally-syndicated radio show Thursday to give her side of the story.

"I didn't show up for court because I didn't have a professional bodyguard," Love said on the air, Billboard reported Thursday.

As far as the drug charges, Love said "Oxycontin is Percocet without the aspirin in it. I've shattered my hip twice. I certainly do take it under a doctor's guidance. I have serious pain sometimes and it hurts. Let's let the doctors decide."

Love was scheduled to call the radio show again Friday.
