'Lord of the Rings' wins 4 Golden Globes

HOLLYWOOD, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- "Lord of the Rings" proved lord of the movie side of the Golden Globes Sunday in Hollywood, winning four awards including best picture and best director.

Peter Jackson won the Golden Globe Award for best director for his work on the final installment of the fantasy trilogy, "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King."

"Lord of the Rings" also won for best original score by Howard Shore, and best original song, "Into the West" by Shore, Fran Walsh and Annie Lennox.

Sean Penn won the best actor award for "Mystic River." Tim Robbins won the best supporting actor award for the same film.

Charlize Theron won the best actress award for "Monster."

Renee Zellweger won the best supporting actress award for "Cold Mountain."

The best foreign language film award went to "Osama" from Afghanistan.
