LAS VEGAS, Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Pop princess Britney Spears has married a childhood friend in Las Vegas, People magazine reported Sunday.
Wearing a baseball cap and jeans, Spears, 22, was escorted down the aisle of the famous Little White Wedding Chapel Saturday by a hotel bellman and married Jason Allen Alexander from Spear's hometown of Kentwood, La., sources told People.
A source close to the pop star told People the wedding was a joke that went too far and that Spears is making plans for an annulment.
The wedding plan was apparently hatched Friday night while the couple were partying at Ghostbar, a club in the Palms Casino Hotel.
Chapel staff told the couple they needed a marriage license,which they obtained at the Clark County Marriage Bureau office in downtown Las Vegas at some point after 12:30 a.m. on Saturday.
The ceremony was videotaped by the chapel and Spears has been showing the wedding video to friends, People said.
The honeymoon reportedly took place at the Palms.
