NEW YORK, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Umbria Jazz in Perugia, Italy, one of Europe's finest summer jazz destinations, is bringing a taste of that scene to the Big Apple next month.
Associazione Umbria Jazz will present a full week of music by some of Italy's finest musicians at the Blue Note jazz club from Jan. 13-18. It will feature solo piano by Stefano Bollani, plus trumpeter Enrico Rava's quintet featuring Bollani, Gianluca Petrella, Rosario Bonaccorso and Roberto Gatto. The club will offer a full "Umbria" menu direct from the Perugia's San Domenico Ristorante.
The New York visit will include several piano concerts by Danilo Rea. Umbria Jazz will also sponsor a late night jazz club Jan. 22-24 at the International Conference for Jazz Education at the New York Hilton.
The 31st annual conference is expected to draw 7,000 educators, musicians, students and industry representatives from 35 countries.
