NEW YORK, Nov. 6 (UPI) -- The Showtime cable network, which now has "The Reagans," the controversial mini-series, plans a panel discussion after it runs to air concerns about it.
No date has been set yet for showing of the two-parter about former President Ronald Reagan and his family, which sister network CBS dropped amid intense criticism from Republican and conservative groups, The New York Times said.
CBS was inundated with tens of thousands of angry letters and e-mail messages from conservatives upset over what they felt was an unfair depiction of Reagan, now ailing with Alzheimer's disease. One conservative group threatened to boycott any marketer that bought advertising time during the film, which was scheduled for Nov. 16 and 18. Now CBS is catching it from Democrats and liberal groups.
Matt Blank, the Showtime chairman, said that the panel discussion forum would provide an opportunity to hear from the film's critics and supporters.
