NBC announces Olympic assignments

NEW YORK, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- NBC-TV announced Thursday Dan Hicks will host its late night show during the 2004 Olympics from Athens, Greece.

In addition, Hicks will also provide swimming play-by-play with analyst Rowdy Gaines. Pat O'Brien, the previously announced host of the Olympic morning show on Bravo, will host the late night show the first week, while Hicks is calling swimming.

Hicks called swimming and diving for NBC's coverage of the past two Summer Olympics. During the 2002 Salt Lake Olympic Winter Games, Hicks handled speed skating play-by-play and served as host of NBC's late night coverage.

The 2004 Athens Games will be Pat O'Brien's fifth Olympic assignment.

NBC, which holds the exclusive U.S. broadcast rights to the Olympic Games through 2012, previously said Bob Costas will be the host of its prime time Athens coverage.
