Comedian Spade to be honored

HOLLYWOOD, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Comedian David Spade will be honored with the 2,235th star on the world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The star will be unveiled on Friday, September 5.

Johnny Grant, honorary mayor of Hollywood and chairman of the Walk of Fame Committee, will preside and Leron Gubler, president/CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, will speak on behalf of the organization.

Adam Sandler and Wendie Malick will participate in the festivities.

Born in Birmingham, Mich., and raised in Scottsdale, Ariz., Spade began his career by performing stand-up in clubs, theaters and colleges across the country.

A 1988 graduate of Arizona State University, Spade made his debut two years later on Saturday Night Live and was soon named Hot Stand-Up Comedian of the Year by Rolling Stone magazine.
