NEW YORK, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- A pair of NFL games Sunday will determine the teams for Super Bowl XLIV.

In the AFC title game, at 3 p.m. EST, the upstart New York Jets head for Indianapolis and a game against the Colts, the team with the NFL's best regular-season record (14-2).

The Jets are seeking their first Super Bowl spot since 1968, when quarterback Joe Namath famously backed up his boast that New York could beat the Baltimore Colts (that franchise moved to Indianapolis in 1984).

The Colts have been the Super Bowl three times, losing Super Bowl III but winning two years later. Many of the team's current players were on the Indianapolis team that won Super Bowl XLI in 2007.

The NFC representative, to be decided in a game beginning at 6:40 p.m. EST in the New Orleans Superdome, will be either the Minnesota Vikings or New Orleans Saints.

The Saints are one of a handful of teams that have never played in the Super Bowl. The Vikings are tied for the record with four Super Bowl losses -- dropping title games in 1970, '74, '75 and '77 -- and haven't been in the NFL's final game of the season since 1977's Super Bowl XI.
