LONDON, April 28 (UPI) -- Premier Oil, which has headquarters in London, said Monday it made a gas discovery in Pakistan and found oil while drilling off the coast of Indonesia.

The company said it ran into an oil layer measuring 183 feet thick while drilling into its Kuda Laut-1 well off the coast of Indonesia. Final results to determine the full reserve potential are due in late May.

For the K-36 well onshore Pakistan, the company said it drilled into a gas column measuring a net 65 feet thick and tested the well at a daily rate of 50 million cubic feet.

"We are very pleased to announce discoveries in both Indonesia and Pakistan, continuing the exploration success we enjoyed throughout 2013," Andrew Lodge, the company's exploration director, said in a statement.

Pakistan consumes all of the natural gas it produces and output is in the range of 1.4 billion cubic feet per year, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Indonesia boasts 3.6 billion barrels of oil reserves, though production has been in decline as existing fields reach full capacity, EIA says.
