OSLO, Norway, April 26 (UPI) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is focusing on energy and maritime issues during a state visit to Norway, a presidential aide said Monday.
Medvedev arrived Monday in Oslo as part of a visit to Scandinavia. Sergei Prikhodko, an official aide to the president, said energy and border issues would top the agenda during the Oslo visit, Russia's state-run news agency RIA Novosti reports.
"Among the key issues is cooperation in the spheres of energy, fishery, environmental protection, nuclear and radiation security," he said. "Special attention in expected to be paid to the issues concerning talks on the delimitation of maritime areas in the Barents Sea and the Arctic Ocean."
The Arctic region holds untapped oil and gas resources. The boundary of the Arctic Circle is divided into 200-mile economic zones between border nations Russia, Norway, the United States, Canada and Denmark.
