TORONTO, March 30 (UPI) -- Canada-based W2 Energy Inc. announced it has developed a technology to make energy from oil tires.
W2 Energy Inc., through its joint venture with partner R&J Howell, has signed agreements in three countries to build plants.

Each plant can handle 4 tons of tires per day and 4 million tires per year.
"Then we turn the tires into diesel fuel and electricity -- all without any carbon dioxide emissions," Mike McLaren, chief executive of W2 Energy, said.
The technology uses a low-temperature gasifier to convert the tires into synthesis gas and then filters out the sulfur, hydrogen chloride and non-fuel components.
