PARIS, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- French electric firm EDF is reportedly in talks with U.K.-based Centrica over a 25 percent share.
Electricite de France just acquired the British government's 35-percent stake in British Energy over Centrica because it has more money and more nuclear experience. Now EDF is offering Centrica a 25 percent stake in its subsidiary Lake Acquisitions.

Under the proposed agreement, EDF will keep control of British Energy through its 75 percent interest in Lake Acquisitions.
Centrica, with a 25 percent interest, would be entitled to participate in new nuclear construction that EDF undertakes, but EDF would remain responsible for the construction and operation of the new nuclear power stations.
