TNK-VP vice president resigns

MOSCOW, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- A senior official with British-Russian energy consortium TNK-BP resigned his position in what some see as a sign of further departures, officials said.

Top management officials with TNK-BP, including Chief Executive Robert Dudley, have faced mounting pressure from the Russian shareholders of the consortium amid concerns over the direction of the company.

Executive Vice President and Marketing Chief Anthony Considine tendered his resignation Monday, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family in Australia. He also attributed the decision to a lack of development objectives within the company, Russian daily newspaper Kommersant reported Tuesday.

Sources told Kommersant off the record his resignation may pave the way for the departure of other senior staffers from the firm's Moscow offices.

Considine's decision follows a series of resignations and shakeups at the highest levels of the firm. Dudley left Moscow in July and has been conducting routine business from a secret location in Europe following what he called "harassment" by Russian shareholders.

Dudley is left to nominate a new vice president and submit that decision to the company's board.
