Both Azerbaijan and Iran are considering the Nabucco project, which if completed will increase gas exports to Europe.

The proposed $6.74 billion, 2,485-mile Nabucco natural gas pipeline project is slated to run from Turkey via the Balkans to Austria.

The two countries also agreed to meet at a summit in Tehran in October with other Caspian states -- Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan – to break the impasse over the division of access to the sea’s resources.
