Ukraine, Kazakh seek joint gas co-op

KIEV, Ukraine, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Ukraine premier Viktor Yanukovych and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev discussed further joint development of oil and gas fields in Kazakhstan.

"We have discussed Ukraine's participation in the development of oil and gas fields," Yanukovych said at a news conference after his arrival from Sochi, Russia, to Simferopol, Ukraine, Wednesday, UNIAN news agency reported.

Discussions were also held on prospects for increasing the supplies of Kazakh gas to Ukraine. Ukraine receives about 6 billion cubic meters of Kazakh gas annually.
