NO PETTY INFERNO

By IRIS KRASNOW, United Press International

Fire has gutted most of the Encino mansion of rock star Tom Petty, causing an estimated $800,000 in damage.

The weekend fire did not harm many of Petty's original tapes and uncut records. The singer-guitarist and several other people were in the hillside house when the blaze erupted, but only one person, a housekeeper, suffered minor burns. Fire inspectors are investigating the possibility of arson.
