Two pressure cooker bombs exploded without warning during the 2013 Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013, killing 3 people and injuring 183 others. The bombs were placed near the finish line, along Boylston Street. They exploded at 2:50 p.m. EDT (18:50 UTC), about 12 seconds apart. Doctors treating the injured have removed small metallic objects from them, including nails.
