Wang Qishan News

Wiki

Wang Qishan (Chinese: 王岐山; Pinyin: Wáng Qíshān; b. July, 1948) is a politician in the People's Republic of China who previously served in regional positions in Hainan and Beijing. He was elected to the 17th Politburo of the Communist Party of China and was elected Vice-Premier in March 2008.

Wang was formerly the governor of the China Construction Bank. He first took over from Meng Xuenong when SARS struck Beijing in spring 2003, at which time he was the Party Secretary in Hainan, and was confirmed as mayor in early 2004. He is known to be frank and responsible. In a recent City Management Radio programme, listeners were astonished to hear the mayor apologize, leaving the citizens a very favourable image of a mayor who took his duties seriously.
