Captain Michael Scott Speicher, USN (born July 12, 1957) is a United States Navy pilot shot down in the Gulf War whose status since then has been the subject of uncertainty and headlines.
Speicher grew up in Kansas City, Missouri then moved to Jacksonville, Florida. He attended high school there, then attended and graduated from Florida State University. He was married with two infant children at the time of the Gulf War.
He was normally stationed at Naval Air Station Cecil Field near Jacksonville, Florida. At the time of the Gulf War, he was a lieutenant commander, stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga.
