Robert Schwartz was a candidate for the Fifth District of the Los Angeles City Council in the 2009 municipal election, which occurred March 3, 2009.

Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Robert graduated with a BA in Political Science from George Washington University in 1974 and received his JD from New York Law School in 1977. While in law school, Robert clerked for a Manhattan real estate attorney whose practice was largely devoted to cases of eminent domain.

Upon graduation, Robert moved to Los Angeles where he began a respected career in the entertainment industry. Most recently, Robert served as CEO of Slamdance Media Group, LLC, and has over thirty years of experience as an executive in the entertainment industry. Robert was formerly Director of Business Affairs at MTM Productions, Vice President of Business Affairs at MGM/UA, Vice President and co-owner of the prestigious Paul Kohner Agency, and has served as an Executive Producer on numerous productions through overall deals that he initiated at NBC, ABC, Warner Brothers and Hearst Entertainment Productions.
