Peter Baker is an American author and newspaper reporter, who has worked for both The Washington Post and The New York Times.
He attended Oberlin College, and was a reporter for the student newspaper, The Oberlin Review.
With the Post, he wrote numerous front-page articles and interviewed leaders including U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. He was the Post's White House correspondent during the Clinton administration, and covered the Lewinsky scandal. He wrote a book based on his coverage, The Breach: Inside the Impeachment and Trial of William Jefferson Clinton, published by Scribner in 2000. He served as the Post's Moscow bureau chief, and wrote a book while there, Kremlin Rising: Vladimir Putin and the Russian Counter-Revolution. While with the Post, Baker spent several months covering events in the Middle East and was embedded with the command of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force.
