Michael James Wuertz (born December 15, 1978, in Austin, Minnesota) is a right-handed Major League Baseball relief pitcher for the Oakland Athletics. He is known for his slider, which has the most whiffs per swing in 2009.

Wuertz was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 11th round of the 1997 Major League Baseball Draft. He made his major league debut on April 5, 2004, against the Cincinnati Reds. He threw a 1-2-3 inning, with one strikeout. Wuertz has impressive career averages of 9.26 strikeouts per nine innings and just 7.72 hits per nine innings.

On February 2, 2009, Wuertz was traded to the Oakland Athletics for minor leaguers Richie Robnett and Justin Sellers.
