Joseph Eggleston "Joe" Johnston II (born May 13, 1950) is an American film director best known for such movies as Jumanji, The Rocketeer, Jurassic Park III, and October Sky.

Johnston was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and attended California State University, Long Beach, as well as the Art Center College of Design.

He has been announced to direct The First Avenger: Captain America, set for a July 22, 2011 release.
