Dr. James Walsh is a British Liberal Democrat politician and General Practitioner active in the Littlehampton and Rustington area of West Sussex, United Kingdom.Qualified at The Royal London Hospital, London University, MB.BS,MRCS,LRCP,DObstRCOG. Formerly he was a Royal Navy medical officer between 1968 and 1973 and remained in the Royal Naval Reserve for twenty more years, finally in the rank of Surgeon Captain and Director Medical Reserves (1990-93).

Dr. Walsh has held a lot of public offices. He has been a Town and Arun District councillor since 1976 and a West Sussex county councillor since 1985 and Mayor of Littlehampton in 1989/90 and 2007-8. Moreover, he served as the Chairman of Arun District Council in 2003-4. He also served as Chairman of West Sussex Social Services in 2003-07.Dr Walsh was a member of the Sussex Police Authority (1989-2005) and the authority's Chairman in 1995-97. In addition, he serves as a Littlehampton Harbour Commissioner (1990-date) and the Chairman (2001-2005). Between 2002 and 2004,Dr Walsh also served as Chairman of the West Sussex Local Medical Committee. He was also Chairman of Littlehampton School Governors (1985-99). As a full member of the EU-Committee of the Regions for Southeast England, he served from 1998 to 2002. From 1995 to 1997, he was the Founder Chairman of the EU Airport Regions Conference as well as Founder Vice-President of Arc Manche.
