Clarence Elmer Mitchell (February 22, 1891 in Franklin, Nebraska - November 6, 1963 in Grand Island, Nebraska), is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. He played in the majors from 1911-1932 for the Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, New York Giants, Brooklyn Robins, Philadelphia Phillies, and St. Louis Cardinals. The left-handed pitcher has the distinction of throwing the last legal spitball as well as making five outs in two at-bats during the 1920 World Series.
