Charles Alvin "Charlie" Beckwith (January 22, 1929 – June 13, 1994), known as Chargin' Charlie, was a career United States Army officer and Vietnam veteran who attained the rank of Colonel. He is credited with the creation of Delta Force, a special operations unit of the U.S. Army.

Beckwith was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1929, and was an all-state football player for his high school team. He later enrolled in the University of Georgia where he played football for the Bulldogs and was a member of the Delta Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He joined the university's Army ROTC program and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1952. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers the same year but turned it down to stay in the Army.

After the Korean War was over (1953–1954,) then 2LT Beckwith, served as a Platoon Leader for Charlie Company, 17th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division in the Republic of Korea.
