Wiki

Brian Pothier (born April 15, 1977 in New Bedford, Massachusetts) is a professional ice hockey player currently playing in the NHL for the Carolina Hurricanes.

Undrafted to the NHL, Pothier was signed as a free agent by the Atlanta Thrashers during the 1999–2000 season, from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He moved to the Senators before the 2002–2003 season in a trade for Shawn McEachern, and was later signed by the Washington Capitals as a free agent in the summer of 2006.

On January 3, 2008, Pothier was injured, possibly when Boston Bruins right winger Milan Lucic hit him hard into the boards. Reports indicate it appeared that Pothier's head snapped back and he may have struck it on the boards, resulting in the fourth reported concussion of his career . Pothier was out for fourteen months after the injury.
