Adam B. Schiff (born June 20, 1960) is an American politician. He first served in the California State Senate. He has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 2001, representing California's 29th congressional district (map) and in 2007, he became a member of the House Appropriations Committee. The district, which was numbered as the 27th District during his first term, includes Alhambra, San Gabriel, Burbank, Glendale, South Pasadena, Temple City, Monterey Park, and Pasadena.
Adam Schiff is a Blue Dog Democrat as well as a member of the New Democrat Coalition.
He was born in Framingham, Massachusetts. He received a political science degree from Stanford University and a law degree from Harvard University. He was a lawyer before entering politics, working as an assistant prosecutor in the Los Angeles branch of the U.S. Attorneys Office. He was a member of the California State Senate before entering the House, serving as the chair of that body's judiciary committee during his one term.
