LOS ANGEL, March 1 (UPI) -- Singer Robin Thicke begged his wife, actress Paula Patton, to stand by him throughout the backlash caused by his controversial MTV Video Music Awards performance with Miley Cyrus.
"Robin begged Paula to stand by him until the controversy died down," a source told Us Weekly of the performance in which Cyrus grinded on Thicke, who then grabbed her butt and kissed her.
Patton said she was OK with the performance and even approved it before the live event.
Another source told Us Weekly the couple "fought nonstop" after the performance.
The couple announced their split last week.
