Katy Perry channels Cleopatra in new 'Dark Horse' music video

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Katy Perry goes epic in her new music video for "Dark Horse," released Wednesday.

The 29-year-old singer channels Cleopatra in a white-blonde wig and Egyptian-inspired costume, and reclines like a queen while surrounded by dancers in Bastet heads based on the Egyptian cat-headed goddess. The music video also features Perry's characteristic bright candy colors, an offering of Twinkies in the shape of a pyramid, and the singer naked and entwined with golden metallic snakes.

Perry recently performed "Dark Horse" in a brightly-colored Egyptian-inspired costume at the 2014 BRIT awards. The song was the first promotional single released from Perry's fourth album, Prism, in 2013.
