SUNBURY, Pa., Feb. 20 (UPI) -- The father of Miranda Barbour says he would support her execution if she were convicted, and she is "manipulative" and a "liar."
Barbour is currently on trial for the murder of Troy Laferrara. She allegedly met him through the website Craigslist, and then she and her husband killed him when they met in person. Barbour has also claimed that she killed dozens of others she met through the website, but police have found nothing to substantiate her confession.
Her father, Sonny Dean, says that Barbour is a liar and a heroin addict, and if the courts were to sentence her to execution, he would hold the hand of Laferrara's widow. “Miranda lives in a fantasy world made up in her own mind,” Dean said. “She craves attention, is selfish, dishonest and manipulative. I will always love her. However, only God knows what she needs or how to reach through to her. To say the past few months have been challenging and stressful is a gross understatement.”
He added that police should put very little stock in Barbour's claims that she killed the dozens beyond Laferrara.
