DALLAS, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Dallas police stormed an apartment after a six-hour standoff, only to find the apartment was empty.
At 9:45 a.m. on Friday, police received a call from a woman saying that she was assaulted in an apartment at the 500 block of North Marsalis Avenue, and that there were several suspects in the apartment and they were armed and dangerous.
The police dispatched S.W.A.T. forces to the location. By 12:45 p.m., there were police surrounding the building, and schools and roads were closed down. At 1:25 p.m, law enforcement began "communicating" with the suspects, yelling, "Surrender" and "Do the right thing!" They reported that they were negotiating with the suspects until 3:45 p.m when they stormed the apartment, only to find that no one was there.
While the police were commendable in their response, the Dallas police department might want to intensify their surveillance training program.
