NEW YORK, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Broadway icon Elaine Stritch, best known to pop culture fans as Alec Baldwin's abrasive mother on 30 Rock, has a fondness for swear words, which she happily demonstrated Tuesday on the Today Show's boozy fourth hour.

Kathie Lee Gifford walked right into it.

"You are so beloved -- of course for your work -- but as much for your mouth," Gifford began. "You say whatever you want to say."

“Thank God it’s, hasn’t been… not passed on television,” Stritch said. “If you just say things naturally, it’s fine. They’re just thinking 'f**k.'"

Kobt giggled, leaving Gifford to exclaim, "Oh dear, oh dear!"

“I meant a serious point by that,” Stritch added.

At 89 years old, the blunt comedian has shown no signs of slowing down. She debuted her official Twitter account last week and is out promoting her documentary Shoot Me.
