Bob Casale, 'Whip It' guitarist, dies at 61

Devo -- an American New Wave band -- was founded in 1972 and reached No. 14 on the Billboard chart in 1980 with the single "Whip It."

AKRON, Ohio, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Bob Casale, a guitarist for Devo -- known for the 1980 hit song "Whip it" -- has died at the age of 61.

Casale's brother and band mate, Gerald, told TMZ that he died from health complications that led to heart failure on Monday.

"As an original member of Devo, Bob Casale was there in the trenches with me from the beginning," Gerald said. "He was my level-headed brother, a solid performer, and talented audio engineer, always giving more than he got."
