Man smashes LAPD police cruiser in front of news crew

A story worthy of Hollywood.

By Aileen Graef

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- A man bashed in the windows of an LAPD black and white and stole its laptop in broad daylight on the Walk of Fame in front of a local news crew.

Victor Vargas, KTLA news photographer, was shooting video on the Walk of Fame when he saw a man approach the police car and yell, "I love Jesus Christ!" before proceeding to smash in the windows. Vargas backed away, called 911, and then continued to discreetly film the crime in progress.

The man grabbed the laptop and then walked over to a kiosk to examine the laptop. As he was checking the laptop, he looked up and saw the photographer, but LAPD had quickly taken him down to the ground where he was arrested while lying on the Walk's stars dedicated to Susan Lucci, Keanu Reeves, and Sandra Bullock.

A Darth Vader impersonator and a Superman impersonator were nearby but did nothing to stop the crime. When asked why he didn't do anything, Superman said, "It's not my job to get in the middle."
