Comedy legend Sid Caesar dies at 91

Caesar is best known for hosting the television series "Your Show of Shows," "Caesar's Hour," and for his role as Coach Calhoun in "Grease."

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 12 (UPI) -- Comedic actor Sid Caesar died Wednesday, a rep for the family confirmed. He was 91.

An assistant to Carl Reiner, a former colleague of Caesar, confirmed the news to Fox 411 explaining that the actor "passed away at his home this morning." The cause of death has yet to be revealed.

Caesar is best known for hosting the television series Your Show of Shows, Caesar's Hour, and for his role as Coach Calhoun in Grease.

He was also a saxophonist and an author of several books, including two autobiographies. In 1982's Where Have I Been, Caesar related his struggles with alcoholism and barbiturates in the 50's, describing the time as a "20-year blackout." His second autobiography, “Caesar’s Hours,” was published in 2004.

The actor was married to Florence Levy, who died in 2010. He is survived by his three children.
