Feb. 9 (UPI) -- A celebrity boxing match between rapper DMX and George Zimmerman has been canceled, promoter Damon Feldman announced on Twitter.

"The George Zimmerman fight is canceled I'm sorry for anyone I hurt with this but this was a very big opportunity thank you," Feldman wrote in a tweet that has since been deleted.

The fight was announced Wednesday after Zimmerman issued an open challenge saying he would fight just about anyone. DMX was selected out of 15,000 applicants who said they wanted to take on Zimmerman.
