NEW YORK, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Pussy Riot members Maria Alekhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova told Stephen Colbert they were arrested for having fun. During their appearance on the Colbert Report, Tolokonnikova answered Colbert's question about why they were arrested through a translator, "We sang a fun song in a church."
She went onto say that they had broken the law many times because they had many fun songs including one that was titled "Putin Piss Off". In a joke with the two women, Colbert said they would be searched for any footage of them saying bad things about the Russian president before they left. Tolokonnikova responded, "We've had two years of practice hiding things from searches."
The two women were held in prison until they were released due to mounting pressure after Tolokonnikova wrote an open letter describing the deplorable work conditions of the camp.
