Philip Seymour Hoffman found dead in NYC

No cause of death reported for Philip Seymour Hoffman, but police source said it was likely a drug overdose.

NEW YORK, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Academy Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead Sunday in his Manhattan apartment, police said. He was 46.

An official cause of death wasn't released, but one police source said he likely died of a drug overdose.

Hoffman won an Oscar for his turn as Truman Capote in 2005's "Capote." He was also nominated for his roles in "The Master," "Doubt" and "Charlie Wilson's War."

His next project was to direct "Ezekeil Moss," a ghost story starring Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Hoffman had a history of substance abuse and was recently treated for using heroin.
